I absolutely love the loop community and to be selected as the January athlete of the month is an incredible honor.
I grew up spending my weekends doing rodeo events. I never really had a normal sport that I was drawn to. Bull riding and roping were a major part of my life growing up, where I traveled all over to compete. I also did a lot of hunting and fishing.
I think I ran my one and only mile in high school and I didn't run again until I was around 22 years old. I did the whole 24 hour gym thing off and on for a couple of years. I had a very difficult time getting motivated in that type of fitness setting. I had back surgery 5 years ago and always used that as an excuse to not work out. My hamstrings were so damn tight I could barely bend over and touch my knees after surgery. A year ago this month, my wife and her friend asked me to join crossfit loop. I agreed, walked through the door to meet Korby, and instantly knew I found my box. Everybody introduced themselves, with high fives and fist bumbs all around. I fell in love with everything about the hard workouts and the incredible people that filled the room. After a couple of months, some hippie type stretches with Joby, I started to loosen up a little bit, and now at 31 I am in the best shape of my life! I have a lot of work to go with my flexibility, but I'm so thankful I walked through that door and started this journey. I am forever grateful for all the coaches at the loop for pushing me and helping me meet my fitness goals.
