Athlete of the Month?!  I am blown away… what an honor.  Wait, did I just get called an “athlete”??  You have to understand, up until recently I was not what one would call an athlete.  As a kid I never played any team sports.  Well, except for that one season of T-ball where I sat on the bench most of the time (although going to Dairy Queen after games was awesome!).  I married into a family of athletes.  I always admired them for their abilities and was a proud spectator.  As an adult I did what I could to stay in general good health and lose baby weight.  I have had five kids, so I guess that was fairly constant.  But that was as far as it went.

When I turned 40 I had an inexplicable desire to try CrossFit.  I didn’t even know much about CrossFit, other than knowing my brother-in-law did it and loved it.  In May 2017 I went to my first CrossFit class.  I was terrified.  I had never even stepped foot into any type of gym before.  My fears of rejection and judgment were met with endless encouragement and comradery.  It didn’t take long before I was hooked.  It was thrilling to learn to do things I had never attempted before.

Starting at CrossFit Loop this summer has been a wonderful continuation of my CrossFit journey.  The owners’ passion for the sport is evident in their efficiently run facility and welcoming atmosphere.  The people at Loop are wonderful to be around and we have so much fun together.  The skilled coaches leave a person no option but to improve.  I am super excited to continue this adventure.  Thanks again for calling me an “Athlete”!!
